When I was younger, the vision I had was to make it to the NBA and play basketball at the highest level. I worked day in day out to achieve a goal that only a few would ever be able to reach. I played in high school and even played for two years at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. I barely touched the floor as a walk-on, but made the most of my time there through various organizations. My time there was quick, but it was transformative: I learned more about my identity and my purpose.

As I have gotten older, the vision for my life has seemed to change, or rather, it has become clearer to me. I have laughed, struggled, cried, struggled again, and rejoiced as I have sought to know God’s vision for my life. Coming to the beginning of my sophomore year at Newman, God began to reveal my purpose goes beyond a basketball court. Now, I am even more sure that I am a child of God, called forth from the darkness that roams this world into the light. I am saved by grace through faith by the love of my Father through Jesus. I am free and I am loved no matter what I’ve done. I was condemned and filled with shame but God revealed to me there is no condemnation for those in Christ.

And finally, I am a simply a messenger called to bring the Good News of the Gospel to all those who would listen. The Good News is that we were once dead because of our sin, but God by His loving mercy, sent His Son, Jesus, to live on Earth as a man. He would never sin, but would still die our death on the cross taking on the punishment of sin and death. He died, but did not stay dead rising again on the third day ending the separation we had with God by sin and death. By His resurrection, each one of us can come to know our Father and receive the gift of eternal life. All we have to do to receive this is to repent of our sins, believe in the message of the Gospel, and take up our cross and follow after Jesus.

And to you, as you have stumbled upon this blog, know that God loves you too and wants you to come to know who He is! Hopefully this blog would help you to look beyond this world and find the meaning for your life in the loving arms of the Father.
