Miracle story – Nancy

The real tragedy is that Nancy was so bound by her fears, so enslaved to her emotions, and so intent on slashing her way through the jungle that was her life that she failed to see what was missing in her life before she tried to take it. Unable to see or create alternatives to what was happening, she felt trapped in hopelessness and helplessness…Did she admit to herself that she needed help? No. God was adequate to help her but she failed to reach out. Instead, she thought only of escape…

The Intersection of Miracle and Mission

When suffering comes, there is the constant question of why. A big part of why’s answer is found in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. In these few lines Paul uses the word “comfort” five times. His meaning goes well beyond mere sentimentalism. The Greek word paraklesis is used repeatedly to mean “call in the reinforcements.” We get the English word from the Latin con-fortis, the elevation of strength, becoming surrounded by a protecting presence.
