Our Creator and Father God has given and provided and benefited us with many countless gifts!
Since the early days of Christianity, Biblical scholars and theologians have offered varying interpretations of the meaning and significance of the gold, frankincense and myrrh that the magi presented to Jesus, according to the Gospel of Matthew (2:11). These valuable items were standard gifts to honor a king or deity in the ancient world: gold as a precious metal, frankincense as perfume or incense, and myrrh as anointing oil….The Book of Isaiah, when describing Jerusalem’s glorious restoration, tells of nations and kings who will come and “bring gold and frankincense and shall proclaim the praise of the Lord” (Isaiah 60:6)….
Question: What are your spiritual gifts? How do you apply them? The editor interviewed various believers face to face in the GTA or by telephone.
* leadership, compassion -caring, helping. How apply? Through volunteering with the Salvation Army – a children’s outreach and a youth Bible study, and also with the foodbank. I work as a children’s leader with the city in an after school program. I am also involved with the ministry council of our church.
Help-Help-Help, I just kept hollering Help-Help, but no one responded. And so I just hung there in the apple tree, my right foot caught in a “y” limb and the rest of me hanging upside down some six to eight feet above ground. To make the scene even more frustrating for me was – Grandpa was sitting on the porch reading the paper, some fifty or more feet away. He was not indifferent he actually was totally deaf. Grandpa and Grandma lived in the little village of Mifflin, Ohio right on the historic brick U.S. 30 Lincoln highway. So cars kept passing yet no one sees or hears until Grandma hears me, alerts Grandpa and he comes to my rescue. Quite traumatic for a six year old kid
