A Senior’s Searching

Every now and then I like to look closer at a popular worship song and today I’m checking out ‘Mighty To Save’ by Hillsong, written by Reuben Morgan and Ben Fielding. You might know this song as ‘Everyone Needs Compassion’ if, like me, you tend to call songs by their first line.
My name is Bayo, a 29 years old Nigerian, from the western part of Nigeria. I am a first year post-graduate student of Conestoga College and an active member of Pioneer Park Church of God.
Ezekiel 18:20 states: “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.” What does this mean? Do I still bear the guilt (original sin) of Adam – but not the guilt (sin) of my present father? How can this be?
